Your Counsellor...

I wasn't always a counsellor. I was a trained commercial pilot, and I loved what I did. But life had other plans. Marriage, children, and a shift in priorities led me to explore a different path—one where I could be more present and make a meaningful difference in people's lives. That journey led me to mental health, and it was the best decision I could have made.

I completed my Diploma in Counselling in 2016 and went on to earn my Bachelor's degree in Counselling in 2022. Along the way, I've had the privilege of working with organizations like Catholic Care in their Intensive Family Preservation Unit and Diamond Women as a Counsellor Intern and a Volunteer Counsellor, and also designed and facilitated group workshops that created real impact. I've worked extensively with women and girls navigating domestic violence, trauma, pregnancy related mental health issues, navigating life stresses on daily basis to name a few. I also got to support culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, and held space for people in crisis. Besides all these roles, my favourite one is being the mum of my 2 beautiful children, who keep me grounded and appreciate life each day.

Today, I work as an In-Shift Supervisor, student mentor, and crisis supporter—roles that reinforce my commitment to genuine, trauma-informed care. I'm an ACA registered Level 2 counsellor, and my lived experience across these different roles has taught me something fundamental: everyone deserves to be heard.

What I Bring to Sakhee:

✓ Training in contemporary counselling approaches

✓ Real experience with domestic violence, cultural diversity, and crisis support

✓ Understanding of what it means to be a woman navigating major life changes

✓ Commitment to creating safe, culturally-sensitive spaces

✓ Genuine belief in people's capacity to heal and grow

I created Sakhee because I saw a gap: women and girls struggling to find counselling that truly understood their unique experiences, their cultural backgrounds, their full selves. I wanted to build a practice where you don't have to choose between authenticity and support. That's what Sakhee is. And I'm honored to walk alongside you in your journey.

About Sakhee...

We believe every woman and girl deserves a safe space to be heard, understood, and supported without judgment. Sakhee was created to be exactly that space—a "soft landing" where your stories matter, your feelings are valid, and your journey toward healing and growth is honored. The word "Sakhee" means friend in many South Asian languages. That's not just our name—it's our promise. We believe counselling works best when you feel like you're talking to a trusted friend who truly gets you, brings professional expertise, and offers genuine care. We're here to walk alongside you.

Our Story

Sakhee was founded on a simple observation: women and teenage girls often struggled to find counselling that truly understood their unique experiences—whether navigating cultural expectations, relationship challenges, identity questions, or the overwhelming pressures of modern life. Too many people felt they had to choose between cultural authenticity and mental health support. They felt unseen, unheard, or like they had to explain their entire background before getting help. We knew this had to change. That's why Sakhee exists. We created a practice where your background, your values, your culture, and your lived experiences are not just accepted—they're woven into the very fabric of the support we offer. Whether you're navigating identity, relationships, work stress, grief, anxiety, family dynamics, or simply seeking clarity about your life—you'll find a counsellor here who listens deeply, respects who you are, and partners with you toward real, meaningful change.

Our Philosophy and approach...

Person-Centered & Collaborative

You are the expert on your own life. Our role is to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and help you find clarity and solutions that feel authentic to you. This isn't about us telling you what to do—it's about exploring together.

Culturally Sensitive

We honor the intersections of your identity—your culture, religion, family values, socioeconomic background, and lived experiences. You don't have to explain yourself or compromise who you are to get support.

Holistic & Integrative

We look at the whole picture: your emotions, thoughts, body, relationships, work, and spiritual beliefs. Real healing happens when we address all these dimensions.

Non-Judgmental & Confidential

What you share stays between us. We believe in your autonomy and create an environment where you can be completely honest without fear.

Evidence-Based & Compassionate

We use therapeutic approaches proven to work—like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Emotionally Focused approaches—delivered with warmth, empathy, and genuine care.

We're a counselling practice built on a simple truth: every woman and girl deserves a safe space to explore, heal, and grow. At Sakhee, we honor your background, respect your pace, and create genuine partnership in your healing journey. This isn't clinical. It's human. It's real.
